i’ve come to realise that my etiquette is slightly different than those around me. perhaps it’s because i’m american, maybe i still have a big city mentality, or maybe i’m just a wee bit bitchy. whatever the case, i thought that i’d outline my idea of acceptable behaviour. please note that this only applies to me because apparently i’m different and have special needs.
Elevator etiquette:
If i am in the lift and i see you walking towards the door and you are more than 20 feet away, just because you make eye contact with me does not mean i will hold the door for you.
Exceptions:
i am in a good mood and in “work procrastination mode”;
you have a large box of Krispy Kreme donuts and will give one to me
Auto-revolving door etiquette:
If you there are two or more of you, sharing a segment of a revolving door is not acceptable. Also, please pay attention for when the door suddenly stops moving to avoid walking into me.
Tram etiquette:
When boarding a tram (or train), do not blindly start to board as soon as the doors open and then stand in the middle while I try to squeeze my way past you to get off. Wait your turn.
Toilet etiquette (particularly public toilets):
Just remember to flush. I don’t care if you don’t wash your hands. that’s your own business. I just don’t want to see your business
Work conversation etiquette:
If I didn’t ask, I don’t really want to know about your wife’s thyroid. Keep it to yourself
Door etiquette:
If I’m right behind you, holding the door open so it doesn’t hit me in my face would be nice
That’s it for now. I could go on but i won’t.
