has anyone not living in australia heard of andre rieu? i have never heard of him until i moved over here and now it seems i can’t get away from him. he’s everywhere…and he’s not australian.
he’s some violin guy who puts on these grand, opulent performance with waltzing violin players and singers wearing fluffy pink dresses that look like meringues. it looks like a cross between a grade school production of “Cinderella” and an 80’s theme prom. he’s huge over here. he had a big violin extravaganza at the huge Telstra dome here in the city and it was sold out and a few of the gals in my office went. they said they cried. they cried… i didn’t feel so lame for watching matlock when i heard about that. it was even on pay-per-view on cable tv.
so i’m just wondering if he’s as big over in that part of the world as he is over here. the Brit and I don’t get it and roll our eyes every time an advert for him comes on. i’m filing this post under “culture” but i don’t know if that’s even right. i should make a new category called “crap.”
p.s. if you are an andre fan then sorry…but please tell me why you love him so much. i promise i won’t make fun of you (to your face).
