normally i abhor mondays but today is not so bad. it’s only a three day work week for me…and wednesday doesn’t even count because i’ll probably go home at about noon.
weekend was nice and relaxing and the weather was absolutely brilliant. we did nothing except sit around and play games, watch tv, read books and eat good food. a perfect weekend for me. i sat outside on our balcony and tried to do some painting but i couldn’t think of anything to paint. i need to get inspired. our christmas gift pile is getting bigger so maybe i’ll paint us a tree. our only other option for a tree is a pathetic little gardenia plant which is desparately clinging to life (and the few leaves it has left).
i talked to my dad on saturday and he said that they have like ten inches of snow! and how wrong is it that i felt a tinge of jealousy? i like snow – when i’m sitting in my house watching it fall on the trees. it’s a different story after christmas, when i have to drive in it and it turns gray and slushy and ruins my shoes. that’s what i have to remind myself of every time i catch myself wishing we were someplace snowy and white. but alas, here we are in sunny, hot(ish) australia and they celebrate christmas in their own way – barbecues on the beach (barbies!), plastic trees and fly spray. how can one not feel christmassy? i’ll stop my whinging about it. i’m sure i’ll get used to it…one day.
in other news, i’m having a crisis. do i grow my hair long or keep it short (with the prospect of going shorter?). opinions, anyone? for what it’s worth, i’ll post a recent long hair pic, and a couple short hair ones (as short as i’d go – it’s an old picture – you can view previous posts for more recent short hair pics).
SHORT HAIR:

LONG HAIR:

ooo – I like the short hair but maybe its because every time I get my hair cut I go shorter myself. I’m almost bald because of it but man-o-man its nice not to have to deal with long wet hair! Personally, I think short hair is a very American look. A couple of guys I worked with “imported” their wives and they had long hair for the first couple of years and then the longer they lived in America the shorter the hair got (and to the husbands disappointment, they also started to develop things like opinions and standards). Long story short, short FTW!
it’s a mixed bag here in australia though i would say that the majority have long hair. i’m with you on the low maintenance aspect which is why i’m leaning towards going short. i see girls with long gorgeous hair and think “that could be me” but let’s wake up – that will never be me. i will forever be pulling my wet tangled hair into a ponytail so as not to deal with it.
hahah – you said it sister! I ponytailed it for 23 years and I am happy to be done with it. Now I don’t even have to brush my hair (my stylist is aware that I won’t and gives me the best no-maintenance haircut one could wish for). PLUS an exposed neck is ripe for walk up neck kisses from hubbies
